Six-year-old British boy dies in
swimming pool at Majorca hotel

Corey Aughey, from Belfast, was involved in an accident
during a family holiday at a resort near his Love Island mansion
A six-year-old boy has died after
getting into difficulty in a hotel swimming pool in Majorca.
Corey Aughey, from Belfast, was
found drowned in the pool at the unnamed hotel in the resort of Sa Coma on
Thursday.
Several ambulances, local police
and Guardia Civil rushed to the scene around 5 p.m. and paramedics tried to
revive the boy after performing CPR for nearly half an hour, according to Diario de Mallorca.
He was taken to hospital in the island's capital Palma, where he remained
in an intensive care unit for three days before his death on Sunday.
The child is believed to have been on holiday with his family at the hotel,
located in Sant Llorenc des Cardassar, a short drive from the Love Island
mansion.
Confirming his death, a relative wrote on Facebook: "We are a family
that wants to let you know that King Corey has acquired his wings.
"The family couldn't get through it without all your support, we want
to thank you from the bottom of our hearts for all your kind donations, now we
have to focus on getting him home.
"Please continue to pray that the family has the strength to get
through the next few weeks off."
Corey was a scout with the Belfast Scout Group 45, meeting at Ireland's
Immanuel Church in Ardoyne.
In a tribute, the church wrote on Facebook: "Tonight, the leaders of
the 45th Belfast Scout Group meeting at Immanuel received the heartbreaking
news that Corey, a much-loved member of the Beaver Division, has passed away
following a tragic accident.
"Please keep the Aughey family in your thoughts and prayers during
this very sad and difficult time."
Belfast Scouts Group 45 wrote: "This is extremely sad news and the
thoughts and prayers of everyone regarding the 45-year-old who is with his
family at this heartbreaking time.
Corey will be fondly remembered by his Beaver leaders as happily loving,
always smiling and full of enthusiasm. We will miss him a lot.
"Beaver's parents have been
informed. Pastoral support has been kindly provided by our County Commissioner
so if you feel a leader or young person wants to take advantage of this, please
let me know. Shankill Youth Football
Club added: "Shankill Juniors would like to offer our condolences to 2014
players Colton Aughey, Stephen, Alana and the entire Aughey family over the
passing of young Corey. Rest assured."
The incident comes just weeks
after a 19-month-old British toddler drowned in a private swimming pool in Aigues, on
the Costa Blanca.
