The Australian-led online education
service has announced it will invest in The WorldGrad, an online TNE product
for students based in India.

A "significant
minority investment" will be made for Singapore-based Linc Education
Services, which runs The WorldGrad, to scale up the
business that allows access to HE after initial online learning in India.
"The OES
investment is set to accelerate the development of The WorldGrad and
will allow more students to study abroad at leading English-speaking
universities," said Abhinav Mital, co-founder of The
WorldGrad .
"We are
delighted to have their support as we seek to develop the impact of the
WorldGrad portfolio," he added.
The aim is to help
expand the scope of the platform, which has facilitated 25 institutional
partnerships across Australia, the UK and the US, and enables "accessible
pathways to higher education abroad".
Parent company LINC
has offered online programs to more than 15,000 students in collaboration with
universities.
TheWorldGrad offers
a similar model to Upgrad Abroad, a sister division
with online learning business Upgrad, recently
considered a unicorn business.
"WorldGrad has
significant potential to provide students from India with conversion access to
an international, English-based education that may not be possible from an
accessibility perspective," said OES CEO Denice Pitt.
"We
can see a huge benefit with the strategic guidance of the OES."
"We look
forward to working closely with The WorldGrad team as they expand their offer
to support more students and universities," Pitt added.
The WorldGrad
program now also supports universities by establishing a student pipeline from
India that has been "quality tested," the OES commented.
Mital at OES
commented, "We can see a tremendous benefit of having the strategic
guidance of OES with their impressive track record of delivering quality-based
online education on a global scale."
LINC was founded in
2017 and has won awards for innovation in the study abroad space, as well as
recognition for its work in online education.
OES is based in
Australia with a presence in the UK and US.
The investment in
The WorldGrad also follows OES' investment in emerging edtech businesses such
as OPM Construct, research support platform Studiosity and skills
enhancement partner Skills
Union. The company also acquired IDI in 2018.
The UK-based Oxford
International Education Group is also scaling up its own digital distribution
through the Oxford International Digital Institute.
