Police cordoned off a main road in Manchester city center and evacuated residents after a 'suspicious device' was found.
A large cordon was in place on Great Ancoats Street between Adair Street and Store Street. Footage from the scene shows a row of stores, including the Ibis hotel, taped.
Police say a suspicious device was found, with a lanyard in place. GMP has since said the device "has been assessed as not suspicious."
A spokesperson previously said: "Police are currently present on Longacre Street in Manchester city center following the discovery of a potentially suspicious device. As a standard security measure, a security cordon of 100m is in place and nearby buildings have been evacuated Road closures are in place on Great Ancoats Street and surrounding side streets while an assessment is undertaken.
“After an initial assessment, the device does not appear to be viable, although this needs to be confirmed. We are working closely with GMFRS to ensure this incident is dealt with quickly and safely. The public is advised to avoid the area."
They have since said: 'The cordon is now up in the city centre. Following an incident today where a suspicious device was discovered in the Great Ancoats Street area of the city centre, we can confirm that the device has been assessed as not suspicious. The road closures have been lifted."
The road reopened around 1:30 p.m.
People have been evacuated from their homes following the discovery of a "possible explosive device" at a property in Salford, police said. The potential device was found in a house on Neville Drive in Irlam during a raid linked to an assault on Monday June 13, GMP added.
The police and the demining unit are on the scene. A cordon was erected, residents being evacuated as a "security measure".
A GMP spokesperson said: "Officers attended an address on Neville Drive, Irlam this morning (June 13, 2022), to execute a warrant in relation to an assault.
Properties on a street in Skegness were evacuated on Tuesday morning after a "device" was found, police said.
A bomb disposal team was called to Scarbrough Avenue to investigate and a 200m cordon was put in place as a precaution.
Residents were then allowed to return to their properties.
Lincolnshire Police said they were working with the Army bomb squad and did not believe there was a "wider risk to the public at this time".
Det Sgt Gemma Skipworth said: "We would like to sincerely thank the local community for their support and patience as we work to keep everyone in the area safe. Officers will remain in the area to assist and reassure residents.
"We apologize for the inconvenience and disruption caused, but rest assured that we are doing everything we can to resolve the incident."
The Lincolnshire Fire and Rescue Service also attended the scene earlier.
Police said the cordon would remain in place until the bomb disposal team assessed the device and it was deemed safe.
